At Marlin Plumbing Services, we promise to deliver the best water treatment systems according to your needs.

Types & Uses of Residential Water Treatment Systems

The US drinking water supplies are one of the best in the world. Still, drinking water resources can sometimes get contaminated. Hard water supplies in states such as Utah are contaminated with water borne germs that can cause diseases. Water subject to contamination must be treated appropriately to remove all the disease-causing elements.

The EPA is responsible for setting and regulating specified standards for public drinking water. Even though public water systems apply various water treatment methods to ensure safe and healthy water for the communities, many Americans use whole house water treatment systems for various reasons:

there are two types of household water treatment systems

1. point-of-use

These systems are installed after the water meter, treating most water entering the house.

2. Point-of-Entry

These systems treat water in a batch and then let it pass to the kitchen taps, bathroom taps, or an auxiliary faucet.

The most common residential water treatment systems are:

Filtration Systems

It’s a water filter, which uses a physical barrier, chemicals, or a biological process to remove impurities.

These hard water treatment systems are specifically used to filter out hard elements such as sodium, potassium, and magnesium ions. Once removed, the hardness level of water is decreased.

It’s a process where impure water is boiled and the steam is collected and condensed. As a result, it leaves all the solid contaminants behind.

It’s a physical or chemical process that kills or deactivates pathogenic microorganisms. The most common chemical disinfectants include chlorine, chlorine dioxide, and ozone. Some physical disinfectants are electronic radiation, heat, and ultraviolet light.

Compared to commercial plumbing, residential plumbing is relatively simple and has straightforward navigation. Commercial plumbing involves complex pipe and faucet installation and repairs. All business complexes and extensive housing facilities are categorized under commercial plumbing. It involves maintenance, installation, and repairs of extensive water supply and waste removal systems. Commercial plumbing is rather complicated and requires more expertise as compared to residential plumbing.

Water heaters use a heat transfer process. It involves the use of an energy source for heating the water at an elevated temperature. For household purposes, water heaters are installed for cooking, cleaning, space heating, and bathing. On a commercial level, hot water and steam produced by hot water have many extensive uses.

Water softener simply removes hardening elements such as calcium, potassium, and magnesium from water. A water softener can remarkably improve the taste and smell of water and is also good for your skin. It keeps your hair and skin healthy, reduces the signs of yellowing on your utensils and bathroom tiles, and is great for washing clothes.

Marlin has come out twice due to leaks. They treated us well, they did a good job, and had affordable rates for the the plumbing outside of my home... that wasn't covered by home warranty. Hot water heater replacement, outdoor pressure valve replacement and a leak we couldn't find that turned out to be the fridge water line. I appreciate the professional service that they did and will continue to use them for my plumbing needs. I'm very glad I chose this family business, you can tell they care.read more

The gentleman who replaced our water heater was first rate. His estimate was exactly the amount we paid! He completed the removal and installation... exactly the length of time he estimated. In addition he was very personable and give us some helpful advise on other plumbing issues, that were unrelated to the problem at hand. Finally he arrived exactly on time. I'm 77 yrs old and a former engineer this was my best experience with a repair person in my entire life.I would rate Marlin Plumbing with 10 stars if I could.Tomread more

We got a water softener and washing machine box installed about 6 weeks ago. Our laundry room looks so much better with the box installed and it has... been so nice to have the water softener. I will definitely use Marlin Plumbing again next time I need something. They were prompt getting us a quote & doing the work, the bill was exactly as expected, the work was good quality, communication was great, and they even cleaned up after themselves which was impressive…not everyone does that. I also felt their pricing was very good.read more
